Drin McCauley, Class of 2000 Reunion Book Scholarship Recipient

The Class of 2000 Reunion Committee is proud to announce that recent GHS graduate Drin McCauley is the recipient of the Class of 2000 Reunion Book Scholarship.

A native Atlantan, Drin attended Scott Elementary and Walden Middle Schools where she was a member of the drill/dance team, the chorus, and served as Student Government Association President. She was a Principal’s List and Honor Roll student who excelled in mathematics. She is also a star student-athlete, participating in track and field, soccer, softball, basketball, and cheerleading. While at Grady, Drin was a member of the National Honor Society and 100 Black Men of Atlanta. She was also active in forensics, youth radio, and Game Time Broadcast Productions.

Drin has overcome many obstacles in life, but has still managed to excel in school. At the beginning of her 8th grade year, Drin lost her mother. She turned to her aunt to step in as a mother-figure, and unfortunately lost her aunt only a month later. Drin focused her pain and frustration into her school work and extracurricular activities and was able to overcome this difficult time in her life. Drin credits these obstacles for making her the strong person she is today; determined to succeed in all of her endeavors.

Drin will enroll at the University of Georgia this fall where she plans on studying Sports Broadcasting. The Reunion Committee has made a commitment of at least $100 to Drin for books. Any additional left over reunion funds will be added to this amount for her educational expenses.
